Netflix is in the middle of WitcherCon, an event spotlighting all things Witcher-related, from the books to the video games to the TV show. We’re mostly interested in that last one, since it’s been a while since we’ve seen Henry Cavill grunt morosely while swinging a sword as Geralt of Rivia, and we’re ready for another go.

Well, we can rest easy knowing that we at least have a premiere date. True to form, every episode of The Witcher season 2 will drop on Netflix on December 17:

And how many episodes are there? There are eight, and Netflix even provided the titles, save one:

I’m guessing Episode 8 is called “The One Where Geralt Dies” or something.

See Ciri, Jaskier and more back in action in The Witcher season 2

We also got some advance looks at the new season, including a shot of the bard Jaskier (Joey Batey) singing his heart out in a pub:

Let’s hope he writes something as catchy as that “Toss a Coin To Your Witcher” song. The follow-up hit is always hard.

We’ve also got the wayward princess Ciri (Freya Allan) training with the witcher Lambert (Paul Bullion) at Kaer Morhen, the witcher’s keep:

You may remember that the first season of The Witcher ended with Ciri and Geralt meeting for the first time in a wood. In The Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt takes her to Kaer Morhen to train her in the ways of a witcher, and it looks like the show will move forward with that.

Perhaps this is Geralt arriving with Ciri at the keep:

Finally, we have a couple of behind-the-scenes videos. In this one, Allan and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg) talk about their season 1 journeys and what it was like filming season 2:

And then we have armorer Nick Jeffries talking about the many weapons witchers (and others) use to slay monsters, be they human or bestial:

You can’t have a Continent full of magic and wonder without puppeteers:

The Witcher has one person who’s entire job is to deal with contact lenses:

We also have a tour of the Kaer Morhen set:

See you back on the Continent in December!

dark. Next. Emily Carey thrilled to be on Game of Thrones prequel: “It’s just insane”
