Lucifer, the little show that could, is returning for one final season on Netflix — at this point the show has been saved from cancellation at least twice, so any future episodes feel like a gift.
We still don’t know much of what will happen in season 6, but star Tom Ellis has dropped a first look on his Instagram, showing Lucifer himself leaning against a DeLorean, dressed in predictably dapper attire:
Why is the devil (and now the ruler of heaven after the events of season 5) leaning on a DeLorean? It’s unclear, although he promises that “Good things are coming.” The car is most famously associated with the movie Back To The Future, where it was retrofitted to become a time machine. Will Lucifer and the gang go back in time? Will there be a Back To The Future tribute episode? Does Lucifer just like DeLoreans? Time will tell.
Tom Ellis wants to buy Lucifer’s car
As far as cars on Lucifer go, you’ll more often see the title character cruising around LA in his vintage Corvette:
What will become of this iconic ride when the show ends? “I believe it will probably be held at Warner Brothers, because Warner Brothers own the show,” Ellis said during Creation Entertainment’s virtual Lucifer panel last year. “There is a Warner Bros. studio tour that happens, and it’s part of that Warner Bros. studio tour.
"I believe there is a motor museum part of that tour where the Batmobile is and the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo — I believe is there as well. I wonder whether Lucifer’s Corvette might be there as well."
That said, if the Corvette went on sale, Ellis would love to buy it. “It is absolutely gorgeous, but it’s a beast to drive. Just FYI.”
Expect Lucifer season 6 to drop on Netflix sometime near the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022.
