Salladhor Saan

At the start of the War of the Five Kings, Davos Seaworth recruits his old friend Salladhor Saan to help Stannis Baratheon take the Iron Throne. Salladhor is a Lysene pirate and a commander of a fleet of 30 ships. After Stannis loses the Battle of Blackwater Bay, Salladhor rescues Davos, who was thrown out of his ship in the wildfire explosion. While in Braavos in season 4, Davos runs into Salladhor one last time before sailing to Castle Black.

In the books, Saan takes Stannis’ army north, but when his fleet is destroyed by storms while taking Davos to White Harbor, he abandons Stannis. Saan is fed up with the lack of payment, and losing most of his fleet was the final straw. Show watchers don’t see the pirate past season 4, but learning what became of him would have been fun. Hopefully, he’ll become a significant part of Davos’ story later in The Winds of Winter.
