Poor old Maester Cressen is about to bite off more than he can chew in a beautiful image from the new Song of Ice and Fire calendar. Take a look:

So far as we know, we’re not getting The Winds of Winter, the sixth book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, anytime this year. But we are sort of getting a new Game of Thrones book: the 2022 A Song of Ice and Fire calendar, will illustrations by artist Arantza Sestayo.

These calendars are always fun, and it’s always cool to see what scenes from the books the artists choose to depict. Martin himself just shared a preview on his Twitter — see if you can figure out what scene this is and then we’ll tell you below:

A maester looks upon an unkindness of ravens (and yes, that is the proper term for a group of ravens, no clue why) as they wheel about a dark sky. So far as I can tell, this is a scene from the prologue to A Clash of Kings, where old Maester Cressen tries to assassinate Melisandre at dinner only to choke and die on his own poison. The poor guy never stood a chance.

You can order the 2022 Song of Ice and Fire calendar here. Will we have any other books by Martin to order in the near future? We can dream…
