Is The Wheel of Time coming to Netflix?

The Wheel of Time is a landmark fantasy series written by Robert Jordan. It’s being developed into a television series for Amazon Prime Video. If you’re wondering whether or not you can watch The Wheel of Time on Netflix, the answer is no.

Jordan’s fantasy opus is coming to life through a joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios for release on Amazon Prime Video. As an Amazon original series, it’s highly unlikely that it will air anywhere other than through Amazon.

Amazon Prime will be the home of The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time will premiere in November 2021. At this point there is no release date announced, but at the very least fans know that the show will premiere before the end of 2021, and that’s what matters. A trailer is likely to arrive any day now.

Jordan’s epic series of novels starts with 1990’s The Eye of the World. Each book is a massive tome unto itself, so it’s not surprising that the first season of the series will have eight episodes that follow the events of the first book.

Amazon already gave the green light to a second season, which started filming in July 2021. Given the amount of special effects needed for a show of this magnitude, it makes sense that Sony and Amazon would want to work quickly to film the second season after the pandemic led to delays across the board.

The show features a huge cast that includes Rosamund Pike (Moiraine), Josha Stradowski (Rand Al’Thor), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Barney Harris (Mat Cauthon), Zoe Robins (Nynaeve) and Madeleine Madden (Egwene Al’Vere).

In addition to The Wheel of Time TV series, there are also a trilogy of movies in development that will be set before the time covered by the novels.
