Lucifer 607 — “My Best Fiend’s Wedding”
The big day has finally arrived: Maze and Eve are getting married. Maze’s self-doubt, however, has a mind of its own. When Adam arrives — yes, Adam, as in Adam and Eve — it turns everything upside down.
Adam is a total bro. He’s also a douche, as Lucifer would say. He puts his foot in his misogynist mouth with every other word, and he doesn’t think Eve’s relationship with Maze is anything other than a fling.
Chloe discovers that Amenadiel wasn’t wrong about Rybin and how much was being covered up, and she decides to stay on Earth and return to the LAPD to help Amenadiel clean things up.
Ella and Carol are going to the wedding together, but he mistakes her hesitation about the event as the result of something he did when the truth is that she’s feeling uneasy because of her suspicions. She’s starting to crack, and Dan listens to her vent her frustrations without realizing that she’s close to discovering the truth about the Celestials.
Linda tries her best to help sort things out by talking to Adam about his frustrations. He gives her a run for her money with his self-centeredness, but it turns out he’s really seeing her because he wants to stop the wedding, which means kidnapping her, since she’s officiating.
Once things are settled, the wedding moves forward. It’s absolutely beautiful seeing everyone together for a very happy occasion. Adam, who is turning over a new fig leaf, offers to walk Eve down the aisle, but she wants to do it on her own.
At the reception, too much alcohol removes Ella’s inhibitions and she grabs the mic to make an announcement. She knows that Lucifer is the devil and she knows that her friends have been keeping secrets from her. She also knows the world is coming to an end. But what bothers her is that everyone has been lying to her.
Though the path to the altar was a bit bumpy, Maze and Eve’s wedding was a great addition to season 6. Weddings are joyous occasions that allow for people to come together in celebration of a big moment, and that’s the perfect way for the show to move into the final three episodes. It was also a beautiful episode for Lesley-Anne Brandt, who got to show off Maze’s softer side. It couldn’t have been more idyllic.
Of course, Ella’s bombshell changes everything….
