After the success of Game of Thrones, streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+ are trying to make lightning strike twice as it were. The newest big genre show on the scene is Foundation, which premieres on Apple TV+ on September 24.

But before you watch the show, try reading the classic books, which are now on sale on Amazon. Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi trilogy was expanded into a seven-book series. The new show will be based on the first book, simply called Foundation, which was originally published in 1951. There is already a TV tie-in cover which is now on sale on Amazon for $14. However, if you want to check out the whole series, the mass market box set includes all seven novels and is just $60 on Amazon.

After the first book, the Foundation series continued with Foundation and Empire (1952) and Second Foundation (1953). This trilogy focuses on the Galactic Empire, which has ruled for 12,000 years but is now in danger of collapsing. The preservation of knowledge and saving the citizens of the empire is the paramount concern. Hari Seldon, the creator of psychohistory, predicts the untimely doom of the Empire and acts by creating the Foundation, a refuge for scientists and scholars where they can build infrastructure for the next coming age.

Make sure to pick up your copy of Foundation while it is still on sale on Amazon, or dive in deep by purchasing the box set. You can also get your subscription to Apple TV+ for just $5 per month and get ready to watch the show when it premieres on September 24.
