The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 will reveal Rick Grimes secrets

Since it was first announced, viewers of The Walking Dead: World Beyond have been eagerly anticipating learning the whereabouts of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Sadly, despite the first season featuring the CRM — the shadowy organization that flew Rick away in season 9 of The Walking Dead — we didn’t get any clues. It’s also highly unlikely that season 2 will feature him…but it will include Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), who was the last seen flying away in a CRM helicopter with a near-dead Rick. She makes a brief appearance in the trailer for season 2, rocking a fresh haircut:

It’s been just over two years since the elusive “Rick Grimes movies” were announced, and at this point fans are now beginning to worry if we’ll ever see them at all. According to World Beyond co-creator Matt Negrete, the arrival of Jadis in season 2 means fans will finally get some much-needed information about what happened after Rick was carried away in the helicopter.

“Six years have gone by,” Negrete told Entertainment Weekly. “And we’re not going to ignore those six years that passed in between her leaving that show and coming onto this show. She will be talking a bit about what happened to her after she climbed on that helicopter with Rick. And I do think, from a Walking Dead fan perspective, that’s going to be very intriguing for a lot of people watching.”

Okay, so it’s not much of an update, but compared to how little we’ve had up to now, it feels like a lot.

Does Jadis have a high-ranking position within the Civic Republic?

As for Jadis, she’s sporting a new uniform that makes her look like a high-ranking member of the Civic Republic. “She’s wearing that CRM uniform,” Negrete said. “And it’s also got a very interesting, decorative rope to it that we haven’t seen on a CRM uniform before. So it’s possible she’s a different part of the CRM, and we might be revealing more about that.”

"It’s been amazing having her on the show. Because Jadis, to me, has always been such an interesting character. She’s very ambitious. And she’s a survivor. And she’ll do, basically, whatever she has to and become whoever she has to become to survive."

As we saw with Jadis during the All-Out-War story arc in The Walking Dead, she’s a bonafide survivor willing to betray a close ally if it means coming out on top. “We saw that on Walking Dead when she became the leader of this group that lived in this trash heap,” Negrete said. “And now we’re seeing a very different iteration of Jadis, where she’s got some new objectives, some new goals. In a lot of ways she’s the same old Jadis, but we’re going to be seeing some new sides of her that I’m excited for everyone to check out.”

Will the inclusion of Jadis bring us one step closer to Rick? Let’s hope so. The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 premieres Sunday, October 3 on AMC.
