Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) is finally coming to Riverdale

Riverdale is getting its first taste of Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) as the highly-anticipated and desired crossover with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is finally happening. Fans have waited a long time for this to happen, and words can’t describe the excitement that comes with this.

There hasn’t been a crossover quite like this before and Shipka’s appearance will serve as the biggest one yet. Back in season 4 of Riverdale, we saw Ty Wood’s Billy Marlin pop up in “Chapter Sixty-Seven: Varsity Blues”, who was a recurring character on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Apart from that, we haven’t really seen much overlap, so Shipka’s Sabrina arriving in Riverdale is going to blow things out of the water.

While speaking with The Dipp, Riverdale writer Evan Kyle said this crossover was happening, but it was showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who confirmed it to Entertainment Weekly in a statement.

“We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season 1, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our Rivervale special event,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds — I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.”

When will Sabrina Spellman arrive in Riverdale?

The fifth season just wrapped up earlier this week, but season 6 is just around the corner. Sabrina will arrive in Riverdale in season 6’s fourth episode, “The Witching Hour(s)” and will be teaming up with Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), who will be performing a dangerous spell.

This spell could spell disaster for someone in the Blossom family and be a matter of life and death. And when it’s a matter such as that, there is no one better than Sabrina Spellman to help out. She’s literally faced both, so Cheryl couldn’t find a witch more knowledgeable and talented.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended in 2020 after splitting up its final season into four parts and a special. It was a loss for Sabrina fans everywhere, but the Easter eggs that kept it connected to the world of Riverdale is finally coming to fruition so I think we’ll be okay.

How will Sabrina Spellman make it to Riverdale?

As for how Sabrina is going to actually make it to Riverdale? Well, that is an intriguing question considering that she died in the series finale. I mean, that doesn’t really mean anything in this world. So her “coming back” wouldn’t be the craziest thing to happen.

However, we also don’t know the timeline of the Netflix series compared to Riverdale. This crossover event could be taking place before Sabrina’s death for all we know, but the Ty Wood cameo does hint that the timelines aren’t that far apart. There are still a lot of questions left unanswered but luckily, the wait isn’t too long.

Riverdale season 6 premieres on the CW on November 16.
