Lidya Jewett as Hermione Granger

Lidya Jewett is a young actor who’s made an impression in films like Hidden Figures and Black Panther, in addition to a fair amount of TV work. But it’s what she likes to do off the set that has us particularly interested in her for the role of Hermione Granger: outside of work, Lidya reportedly likes to read and toy with her microscope, and she excels in mathematics at school. Remind you of anyone?

With child actors, you want to get someone with talent, and Jewett clearly has talent. But at that age, a person’s acting skills aren’t always fully developed, so it can be helpful to find someone who just fits the character. And Lidya Jewett gives off serious Hermione vibes. A bright, earnest young person who loves math and reading? She’s a natural!

It would be very fun to see a new generation of young actors come up with the Harry Potter story the same way that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint did back in the day. And Lidya Jewett seems like she’s ready for her close-up.
