Margot Robbie as Bellatrix Lestrange

Helena Bonham Carter was such a great fit for Bellatrix Lestrange, it’s hard to imagine a Harry Potter reboot happening without her. But if there’s one actress who could take on the role of Voldemort’s most obsessive servant, it has to be Margot Robbie. Robbie has plenty of complex roles on her resume, but her take on DC’s Harley Quinn is what sells us on her ability to portray Bellatrix well.

To start, Bellatrix’s fanatical dedication to Voldemort can easily be compared to Harley’s misplaced love and loyalty for the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad. A similar performance would give Harry Potter fans a very convincing Bellatrix to follow, especially if we’re considering the events of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child canonical.

Robbie also went above and beyond in Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad, showing that she can play a villainous woman who’s more than her romantic interest. She knows how to bring a well-rounded female antagonist to life, with an emphasis on how much the character genuinely enjoys wrongdoing. After watching her as Harley Quinn, we can envision Robbie bringing Bellatrix’s cackle and taunting to life as she revels in killing Sirius or obeying Voldemort’s orders.
