AMC’s new Walking Dead anthology show presents tons of opportunities for new stories. They could explore characters’ pasts, take the zombie apocalypse international, and more.

It’s official: AMC has greenlit their thirdThe Walking Dead spinoff series: Tales of The Walking Dead. This anthology series will feature six hour-long episodes, all which stand on their own as self-contained stories. There are a host of potential routes to take. The show could dive into the characters pasts, adapt comic one-shots, and much more.

Throughout the Walking Dead franchise, we’ve seen so many communities come and go, heroes killed, and villains fall. A lot of these storylines have left behind loose ends that are yet to be tied up. An anthology series provides the perfect chance to revisit them.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at eight stories we’d love to see in Tales of The Walking Dead.

1. It’s about time Magna’s group got a backstory

We start with a group that’s still active in the show today, introduced shortly after Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) left the show in the season 9 episode “What Comes After.” I’m talking about Magna’s (Nadia Hiker) group. Given that they’ve been around for a while now, with each character being important to the plot, it’s a massive surprise that we don’t know much about their backstory.

Besides Magna herself, her group has four members: Kelly (Angel Theory), Connie (Lauren Ridloff), Luke (Dan Fogler) and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura). Each of them has had an important role so far in season 11, except for Luke, who is expected to appear at some point.

Not much is known about what this group was doing in the early years of the apocalypse. We know from previous conversations that it was once a larger group, but several members died, including Bernie. By the time we meet them, they’re very much like a small family.

With these characters as part of the main cast in season 11 — especially Yumiko, who appears to be taking over from Michonne’s huge role in the comics — there’s no better time to fill in their pasts.
