Frank Miller is the comics mastermind behind some of the most seminal graphic novels in history. While some of his comics, such as Sin City, have been directly adapted into movies, others have merely inspired them. Take his Batman masterwork 1986’s The Dark Night Returns, for example, which director Zack Snyder referenced several times in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

You’ll find several shots from the movie that mimic panels from the book. Snyder is open about this, having declared his love for The Dark Knight Returns on many occasions. In a past appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he called the comic his “white whale” and his “holy grail.” And although he hasn’t been able to adapt it directly, he’s included elements of it in his movies.

So how does Miller feel about seeing elements of his work on the big screen? He sounded of on The Beard and the Bald Movie Podcast. “I really gotta say about that — a few years have gone by since all this started, okay?” he said. “And at first, my reaction was to be very territorial and all that. And now I’ve kind of sat back and with a much deeper breath and longer view on the whole thing and all I can say is: this is great.”

"I mean, I came in and I came up with my idea for The Dark Knight Returns and that basically was the big splash I made, which started my whole career going. And since then I’ve seen the two fields collaborate back and forth. I benefited greatly from Dark Knight Returns and so have they and continue to. And it can only be looked at as a healthy relationship."

Sin City NFT sells for staggering amount of money

Speaking of Frank Miller, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that he recently sold a Sin City NFT for a record-breaking amount of money, making it the most expensive comic book NFT ever sold. The piece, titled  “I Love You, Nancy Callahan,” went up on a 24-hour auction. The winning bid was $840,986.16, which was paid for entirely in Gala Coin cryptocurrency.

If that isn’t crazy enough, Miller says his The Dark Knight Returns cover is worth around $1.3 to $1.6 million, though it is not up for sale yet. Yikes!
