23. See

Next up is See, the first offering on this list from Apple TV+. If scorched earth and zombie apocalypses aren’t quite your bag but you still like that existential rumination on the human experience that they can bring, See might be to your taste.

The premise: in the 21st century a virus swept the globe and annihilated most of the human race. Those who survived the plague were left blind, a condition which was passed on through generations for another 200 years, effectively making the whole idea of the sense of sight a myth. Humanity has adapted, living in tribal societies and finding new ways to go about their lives in a world that is somewhat reminiscent of Horizon: Zero Dawn (minus the robot dinosaurs).

Jason Momoa plays Bobba Voss, Chief of the Alkenney. When a pregnant woman named Maghra (Hera Hilmar) comes to the Alkenney seeking shelter, Voss takes her in and eventually marries her. However, things soon start to get much more complicated, as Maghra’s children are born with the sense of sight. Other rulers of this post-apocalyptic land soon descend on the Alkenney and Voss’ new family, and mayhem ensues.

I mean, it is Jason Momoa. You had to know that those bad guys were going to get whupped one way or another.

Two seasons of See are currently available on Apple TV+, with Dave Bautista joining the cast in season 2 as Voss’ brother Edo. A third season is currently in production.
