How many episodes is The Wheel of Time season 1?
The Wheel of Time is officially here! Fans of the epic 14-book series by Robert Jordan have been waiting a long time for a big adaptation like this one, and hopefully they’re pleased with what they’ve seen so far. Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike leads the cast as Moiraine, a sorceress who at the start of the series is on a quest to find the Dragon Reborn.
Alongside Pike is newcomer Josha Stradowski, who plays the one and only Rand al’Thor, with actors Madeleine Madden, Barney Harris, Zoë Robins and Marcus Rutherford rounding out the cast. The first trailer and promotional images had fans excited to see what Amazon could give us, and now that the first three episodes are out, viewers are left wanting more.
It’s no easy feat adapting a 10+ book series into a movie or TV show. With so much story to tell, it’s only natural to be skeptical over how this new Wheel of Time series will do it. And as for season 1 specifically, how many episodes will there be and what will be covered?
The Wheel of Time episode count
There are eight episodes total in The Wheel of Time season 1. As mentioned earlier, three are already available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, and the remaining five will be released weekly every Friday. While it’s unfortunate we’re not getting a longer season of, say, 10 or 12 episodes, the great news is that a second season is already confirmed.
The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins previously revealed which books season 1 will cover, sharing on Twitter:
"Season One will cover Book One, plus some of Book Two and even Book Three. But also not all of Book One, as some of it is in Season Two. Cryptic enough?"
Hopefully, these two seasons are successful and we’ll get to continue The Wheel of Time story on our screens. For now, though, let’s keep watching season 1 on Amazon Prime Video, which will run through Christmas Eve.
