Everything to know about The Wheel of Time star Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor)

Amazon’s The Wheel of Time TV show is finally here, and fans of the best-selling books by Robert Jordan are excited to see how their favorite characters translate on screen. Apart from Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike playing Moiraine Damodred, most of the cast are newcomers. So let’s get to know the fresh-faced actors in season 1.

One of these actors is Josha Stradowski, who’s playing Rand al’Thor. Those who have read the books know how important this character is to the story.

So who is Josha Stradowski? Below you’ll find the basics about this up-and-coming star.

Though we don’t know Stradowski’s exact birthday, we do know he was born in 1995 and is currently 26 years old. He’s originally from Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Once the first promotional images for The Wheel of Time were released, book fans realized Rand and some of the other central characters looked older than they were expecting. Showrunner Rafe Judkins spoke on that decision, telling SyFy Wire:

"One of the key changes from the book series that was important to me to make right off was aging up the core four a little bit. In the space when the books came out, they were read as adult fiction. But if they would come out today with that same age group, they might be read as YA fiction. I think it’s really important for the show that it still delivers in the adult space that the books were written in, so aging up those characters was really important to me."

According to reports, Stradowski is pretty tall, with a height of 6’2. Rand al’Thor is actually even taller, standing at 6’6.

If you don’t exactly recognize Stradowski from other roles, we don’t blame you. He’s a newcomer with 12 acting credits on his IMDb page with most of them being Dutch projects. Some of these include a 2018 TV movie called Just Friends (Gewoon Vrienden) and a 2020 TV show called High Flyers (Hoogvliegers).

After The Wheel of Time, we’re sure once Stradowski will be snatching up some bigger parts.
