Arcane season 2 is coming to Netflix
By Dan Selcke
Arcane, an animated Netflix show that serves as a prequel to Riot Games’ phenomenally popular League of Legends video game, debuted last month and was met with (mostly) positive reviews. And it must have pulled good numbers, too, because Vanity Fair reports that Netflix has ordered a second season.
Although Riot makes League of Legends, Arcane is produced by the French animation studio Fortiche. “We’re beyond happy about the positive response to ‘Arcane’s’ first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment,” said series co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee in a statement.
The main stars of the first season — Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung, who played Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn — will all be back for season 2.
Netflix scores another video-game-to-TV show-hit with Arcane
This isn’t the first time Netflix has found success with an animated show based on a video game; Castlevania also had its fans. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw other League of Legends shows made in the style of Arcane sometime down the line, but at this point there are no plans for further projects, at least according to Variety.
You can stream the first season of Arcane on Netflix now.
