Interview With The Vampire TV show release date, cast, synopsis and more
Vampire fans, rejoice! If you haven’t heard, a new TV show based on Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire is on its way! The gothic horror novel from 1976 was famously turned into a movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise back in 1994, years and years before Twilight revamped the genre.
AMC will host the new TV series, which was announced earlier this year. The network actually acquired the rights to other Rice novels as well, including Interview With The Vampire sequels, opening up the potential for a full Vampire Chronicles adaptation on our screens. While we wait for an official first look and trailer, let’s get into what we do know about this exciting new project so far.
Interview With The Vampire TV show release date
At the time of this writing, the release date for Interview With The Vampire is simply 2022. Not as specific as you were hoping, we know, but that’ll do for now. The new series is set to begin filming in December 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Depending how long the production schedule is, we would expect the show to debut sometime between mid and late 2022. For now, however, this is just speculation. We’ll be sure to update you once we get more information on the release date.
Interview With The Vampire TV show cast
Those looking forward to the upcoming TV adaptation will be happy to hear that some of the cast has already been announced. In the leading role of Louis is Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson, with Sam Reid playing Lestat. Bailey Bass will portray Claudia and newcomer Kalyne Coleman has been cast for an undisclosed recurring role.
Anne Rice serves as an executive producer, with Rolin Jones as showrunner and Alan Taylor as series director.
Interview With The Vampire TV show synopsis
An official synopsis for Interview With The Vampire has yet to be shared, but we can assume it will follow the same story as the book it’s based on. For the most part, at least. Alan Taylor spoke with Den of Geek in September, where he revealed some things will be changed for the TV adaptation:
"Rolin Jones has made some changes that I think deepen and do some very intriguing things with the basic story. We’re working with the Rice estate and they’re on board with it. I think we’re carrying the original appeals of the novel, but we’re also making some changes that make it worth exploring again."
We’ll be curious to see how these changes are received by fans of the book.
So far, I’m certainly interested in this new TV show and hope we get a first look in early 2022. Does Interview With The Vampire have what it takes to become the next The Walking Dead for AMC? We’ll just have to wait and see.
