Siuan Sanche

In the show: In the White Tower of Tar Valon, Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat and leader of the Aes Sedai, passes judgment on Logain. The False Dragons tries to goad Siuan into having him killed, remarking on the growing dissatisfaction towards the Aes Sedai among the people, but she doesn’t fall for it. She turns her attention to Liandrin and then Moiraine, who refuses to admit the purpose of her travels over the last 20 years.

Awaiting punishment the next day, it is revealed Moiraine and Siuan have a longstanding romantic relationship and are working together to find the Dragon Reborn. The display in the hall was just for show, and Moiraine tells Siuan her punishment must be exile so she can continue her work outside the city without raising suspicion. Their secret mission is too important to fail, and if they are discovered by fellow Sisters, they risk severe punishment, such as stilling, which will take away their ability to access the One Power.

In the books: In the prequel novel to The Wheel of Time series, New Spring, it’s revealed Siuan Sanche and Moiraine Damodred came to the White Tower together as young adults. They grew close over time and ascended quickly to the rank of Aes Sedai. Both were present at Gitara Moroso’s vision of the Dragon being reborn on the slope of Dragonmount.

Consulting ancient prophecies, Moiraine and Siuan wish to guide the Dragon Reborn to their destiny. While there is no exile in the books, Siuan and Moiraine do work in secrecy with the threat of stilling if they are ever caught. Siuan does travel to Fal Dara to meet with Moiraine’s powerful Emond’s Fielders, but later returns to the White Tower to continue her plans to control the Dragon Reborn.
