Fellow Harry Potter fans, still your rapidly beating hearts. The trailer for the 20th Anniversary special is finally here, and it’s literally everything we could have wanted. I’m not sure where to begin because every moment of the two-minute trailer is filled with magical nostalgia. It’s best to just watch it and have the experience for yourself:

Seeing the original trio of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) back together is absolute perfection, and it is just the first layer of the magnificent cake that is Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, coming to HBO Max We get glimpses of the cast walking through the halls of Warner Brothers Studio in Watford, England where they spent nearly a decade filming the eight Harry Potter movies. If you’ve ever been on the studio tour there, you know how special it feels. I felt a certain kind of joy seeing the cast walk around the Great Hall once again.

New Year’s Day seriously can’t come soon enough!

When does the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Special drop on HBO Max?

Throughout the trailer, we see familiar and beloved faces from the movies, including Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), and Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films.

In the trailer, the original trio talks about the impact the franchise had on their lives. I think I may have been ugly crying when Grint told Radcliffe and Watson, “We’re family, we will always be part of each other’s lives.”

Get ready to welcome the new year in the best way possible as Harry Potter celebrates 20 years on New Year’s Day; the special will drop exactly at midnight on January 1, 2022! If you had any plans to go out, forget about them, nothing could be more exciting than this.

And the special isn’t the only reason Harry Potter is in the news so much these days. There’s also a third Fantastic Beasts movie on the way, The Secrets of Dumbledore. Warner Bros. already released the trailer, and now they’ve put out the poster:

With Hogwarts displayed so prominently, it’s clear the new Fantastic Beasts movie will lean more heavily into the original series than ever before. The new film comes out on April 15.

Everything’s coming up Potter!
