Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is opening up about the crush he harbored on one of his Harry Potter costars. Any guesses as to who it is? Emma Watson (Hermione)? Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley)? Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)?

You might be surprised to know it’s none of the above.

During the upcoming Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special, Radcliffe revealed that he was crushing hard on Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange). I know, I was surprised to hear this too.

See what he had to say about this long-standing crush and how he feels all these years later.

I mean, it’s surprising but not that surprising, right? Carter played the villainous Bellatrix Lestrange, and I can see how her fierce, spirited performance made an impression on young actor. And it it is Helena Bonham Carter.

While speaking with one another on the special, Radcliffe read out a letter he wrote to her during filming:

"Dear HBC. It was a pleasure being your costar and coaster in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee. I do love you. And I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier I might [have had] a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool."

How freaking cute is that?!

While this was just a harmless crush, apparently many costars dated during the filming of the movies, especially during Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. According to Radcliffe, it was a time of “peak hormone.” If you’ve seen the movie then you know exactly what he’s talking about.

Radcliffe would often rely on Watson for dating advice, which involved “prepping and coaching” on how he should reply to text messages. You know the whole “don’t respond right away and wait a few hours” technique. “If she was texting a boy or I was texting a girl, I would be like, ‘She sent me this many kisses back. What do I do? This is a nightmare’,” Radcliffe remembered.

I honestly can’t wait to hear more of these conversations during the special. This is exactly what we all need to kickstart a brand new year!

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will begin streaming on HBO Max on January 1 at 12:00 a.m. PST.

Next. At the end of the year, The Witcher is the world’s most in-demand show. dark
