Outlander season 6 — Starz — March 6
The end of the droughtlander draws near! 2022 will see the return of Outlander on Starz, so rejoice, it is almost time to head back to Fraser’s Ridge.
However, as we all know, things are rarely calm around the Fraser family. After season 5’s absolutely brutal ending, there will be plenty of trauma for Claire and Jamie to work through this year as they try to put the past behind them.
But the past is rarely so cooperative. Aside from the fallout from Claire’s assault last season, we know that a figure from Jamie’s past will soon be coming to the Ridge: Thomas Christie, one of the other men who served time with Jamie at Ardsmuir prison. And from the teases about this season, the presence of the Christie family is bound to make things a lot more complicated.
There’s also the looming shadow of the Revolutionary War on the horizon, as hinted at in the trailer below:
The Frasers have always managed to toe complicated political lines, but this season promises to ratchet those tensions up to a new level. The land that Fraser’s Ridge was built on is property of the British crown…but thanks to Claire’s time traveling, she and Jamie know that England is predestined to lose the war. How they manage to support the Revolutionary effort and avoid falling afoul of the English soldiers is sure to be as difficult a task as anything Claire and Jamie have yet faced.
Season 6 of Outlander is going to be a bit shorter than usual due to COVID-19 complications during filming; this season will only be eight episodes. However to make up for it, season 7 (which is expected to begin production soon) will have a mighty sixteen episodes to balance it all out.
