Season 2 of The Wheel of Time is currently in production, which means we’re getting new teases, updates, and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks faster than you can shake the Oath Rod at. We recently heard that the show may have been picked up for a third season, but we’ve yet to see an official confirmation from Amazon. Before that, we heard that the city of Caemlyn may appear in season 2.
Today we’re getting something a bit more concrete, if less substantiative. Actor Jennifer Cheon Garcia, who plays Leane Sharif in the show, has just shared a behind-the-scenes video of some of the video effects work currently being done on season 2. Check it out:
Leane Sharif actor shares behind-the-scenes peek at The Wheel of Time season 2
“207 cameras I think they said. VFX. Thank you to @marko.julia and the rest of the VFX team for making us look ,” Cheon Garcia writes. In the video, we can see someone (presumably Cheon Garcia) in the middle of a massive camera and lighting rig. It’s impossible to tell exactly what’s going on here, but since the actor is not in costume and is wearing a mask, we’re guessing that this is probably a screen test for whatever VFX shot they’re going to add next.
As for what VFX could be done with Leane, well, that’s a little more fun to speculate. The character is the Keeper of the Chronicles of the White Tower, aka the right hand woman to Amyrlin Seat Siuan Sanche, leader of the Aes Sedai. We only got a couple of brief glimpses of Leane in season 1, but she’s a prominent character throughout The Wheel of Time book series. Considering all the lighting, could the visual effects team be crafting shots of magical channeling?
We’ll have to wait until season 2 to find out. Until then, production on the series continues. Season 1 is available on Prime Video.
