The other day, it was revealed that Christopher Lloyd — aka Doc Brown from the Back to the Future movies — will be part of The Mandalorian season 3. We don’t know who he plays, but Lloyd is pretty much a sci-fi legend, so it’s exciting that he’s finally going to be part of the Star Wars universe.

In fact, The Mandalorian has a bit of a reputation for casting sci-fi icons in supporting roles. In season 2, Michael Biehn showed up as a mercenary working for Morgan Elsbeth, the magistrate of the walled city of Calodan on the planet Corvus. He joined his boss in trying to rid the area of the meddlesome Jedi Ahsoka Tano, helping to hire lead character Din Djarin to assassinate the Jedi. However, Din and Ahsoka teamed up and took down both Lang and Morgan.

Michael Biehn will forever have a place in the annals of sci-fi history for playing Sgt. Kyle Reese, the main character in the first Terminator movie. Lloyd will fit right in with this cast of iconic ’80s sci-fi stars; Carl Weathers, of Predator fame, is also on the show.

Who is Amy Sedaris’ Mandalorian character?

That said, not all of the show’s supporting actors are drawn from the worlds of sci-fi and fantasy. One of the most memorable side characters introduced so far is Peli Motto, a mechanic on Tatooine who has helped Din Djarin out of more than a couple jams by this point.

Sedaris is known for her comic roles, especially as the lead in the cult sitcom Strangers With Candy. I never expected her to show up in that galaxy far, far away, but now that she’s here I hope she never leaves.
