Samantha Morton (Alpha) will return in Tales of the Walking Dead

Later this year, The Walking Dead will debut its third spinoff, Tales of The Walking Dead, an anthology series that goes back and tells some stories that the main show wasn’t able to cover. Fans have been wondering which characters will get another chance to shine. A few mysterious characters have already been cast, but now we have our first familiar face: Samantha Morton will return as Alpha!
The casting was confirmed by Entertainment Weekly. Morton played Whisperer leader Alpha in seasons 9 and 10 of the main show. Cold and cruel, her group wore zombie masks to blend in with the undead and command their own horde. The Whisperers caused havoc during their time on the show, demolishing Alexandria and Hilltop and killing off several beloved characters. Spoiler: Alpha was ultimately killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
Funnily enough, The Walking Dead has already weaved in a backstory for Alpha. On several occasions, the show featured flashbacks to her earlier days in the apocalypse, including how she met Beta (Ryan Hurst):
It remains to be seen what Alpha’s part in the spinoff will entail given that we’ve already seen glimpses of her backstory. We could see how she set up the Whisperer army, or maybe it goes all the way back to the first day of the outbreak.
Who else is appearing on Tales of The Walking Dead?
AMC is not messing around with this spinoff. They’ve already revealed an impressive slate of stars set to be involved. So far, the cast includes Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Poppy Liu (Better Call Saul), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Dominion), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Anthony Edwards (Designated Survivor), and Jillian Bell (Godmothered), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Loan Chabanol (Fading Gigolo), Embeth Davidtz (Old), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon & The Winter Soldier), Lauren Glazier (Mindhunter) and Matt Medrano (Yellowstone).
There are endless potential tales that the spinoff can cover. We have some good ideas. Take a look:
