When does The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim come out?

The Lord of the Rings is back! Well, the books never left, but there are bunch of new screen adaptations in the works. First, Amazon is premiering its elaborate new TV series The Rings of Power, set during the Second Age of Middle-earth. Then, New Line Cinema — the studio that made Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies — is coming out with an animated featured called The War of the Rohirrim.
While The Rings of Power is set literally thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings story most people know, The War of the Rohirrim is much more recent. It’s about Helm Hammerhand, the king of Rohan who constructed the fortress of Helm’s Deep, which featured prominently in The Two Towers.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is due out in theaters on April 12, 2024.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is not coming out on Amazon Prime Video in April 2022
The Rings of Power will beat The War of the Rohirrim to market by a goodly number of months. It’s set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
Looking at these two projects, we wonder if War of the Rohirrim wasn’t kicked into production once New Line saw that Amazon was pouring tons of money into The Rings of Power, potentially reenergizing the brand. But hey, more Lord of the Rings stuff is always a good thing, and the animated angle will make The War of the Rohirrim stand out.
