Barry Keoghan reportedly arrested for “intoxicated” behavior in public

Up and coming actor Barry Keoghan is riding high with success as of late, having appeared in the A24 film The Green Knight from David Lowery, Marvel’s Eternals, and more recently a very exciting scene (and a deleted scene) in The Batman. The talented 29-year-old actor has been making quite a buzz in the media, with his fans even now following his relationship with girlfriend Alyson Sandro. The two made their red carpet debut at the UK premiere of Eternals in late 2021.

Needless to say, Keoghan has become a star to watch, but unfortunately for him, he’s in the news this week with a less-than-pleasant story as he’s reportedly been arrested in Dublin, Ireland. Independent.ie had the news first, reporting that the actor was taken in by the authorities in the early hours of April 10 after someone had made a complaint that a man was outside their apartment.

Keoghan was reportedly found in an “intoxicated state” when police arrived, but was later released from the station without any charges. The report says that it’s believed the actor has a relative who lives near the apartment the police were called to. A spokesperson for the police confirmed to

that a man was taken into the station Sunday morning under the reported circumstances.

An inside source also told the publication:

"“Gardaí [Irish police] were called to the apartments after getting reports of a man on a balcony in an intoxicated state. When they arrived he wasn’t threatening in any way but was arrested and brought to the garda station, where he was dealt with before being released. The matter is finalised and nothing more will come of it.”"

Despite Keoghan being active on social media, he has not made any public comments about his reported arrest. Instead, his most recent posts on Instagram are promoting The Batman, with the celeb saying he felt “very very BLESSED” to have portrayed the Joker. Of course, fans are all eager to see whether or not he’ll appear in any other projects as the DC villain, which we’re predicting he will at some point.

As of today, that’s all we know about Keoghan’s reported arrest, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated if we hear any other news.
