Here’s what Invincible could look like in live-action

Robert Kirkman’s superhero comic Invincible has been running for years, but it really blew up when Amazon adapted it as an animated series. What happens to Mark now that his father, the superhero Omni-Man, has revealed himself to be an enemy of Earth and beat his son near to death? A second season can’t come soon enough.

And you may be surprised to hear that there’s actually a live-action Invincible movie also in the works, although we haven’t heard much about it. “This is another one of those things that’s a little early going but I will say that there are massive efforts going in to make sure that the film experience is unique …while also being true to Invincible,” Kirkman said at Comic-Con a couple years back. “I couldn’t be more excited about the stuff that we’re doing but I can’t tell you yet.”

Setting aside the question of whether we need a live-action Invincible thing in addition to the animated series, what might that look like?

Cosplayers give live-action Invincible

The Twitter account @Graciecosplay posted a terrific picture of a pair of cosplayers dressed up as Mark Grayson, aka Invincible; and Samantha Eve Wilkins, aka Atom Eve. Not only are they fully in costume, they’re hovering off the ground. Hello special effects!

Unless and until the live-action Invincible project actually goes through, this is the kind of thing we have. And given the high quality, I’m okay with that.
