Loki is the most-watched Marvel show on Disney+
By Daniel Roman
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that Loki is the most-viewed MCU show on Disney+. This came out at Disney’s Upfront 2022 event, where the company showed off its upcoming slate of TV shows.
Loki follows the variant of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who snatched away the Tesseract during Avengers: Endgame as he runs afoul of a time-traveling bureaucracy known as the Time Variance Authority. The show also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant.
Per Deadline, Feige called Loki a “bold swing” before confirming that the “wild ride paid off.” Loki has been viewed more times than other MCU series like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye.
Of course, we don’t have any actual numbers; like most streaming platforms, Disney+ keeps those close to the chest.
Kevin Feige confirms Loki and Sylvie broke the Multiverse
Feige also recently confirmed that the events of Loki are what allowed the multiversal stories in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to occur. So the series wasn’t only popular, it was important. “Loki and Sylvie did something at the end of that series. That allowed all of this to be possible,” Feige said at the Los Angeles premiere for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, per New Rockstars. “He Who Remains is gone, and that allowed for a spell to go wrong in No Way Home. Which leads to the entire Multiverse going quite mad in this.”
During the season finale of Loki, Sylvie — a female Loki variant — kills He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), the guy behind the TVA who kept the Multiverse strictly adhered to the “sacred timeline.” Immediately afterword, Loki discovers that the TVA has changed and is now ruled by a variant of He Who Remains known as Kang the Conqueror, who is set to be one of the next major villains for the MCU. Majors’ next confirmed appearance as Kang is in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
In addition to the good news about Loki, Feige and She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany debuted the new trailer for the superhero comedy series, which stars Maslany as Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will feature the return of both Mark Ruffalo as Banner and Tim Roth as the Abomination.
The next Marvel series coming to Disney+ is Ms. Marvel, which premieres on June 8th.
