3. The Mandalorian season 3
Of course there’s going to be another season of The Mandalorian, the show that started Disney’s Star Wars TV renaissance. We should expect the third season to come along sometimes in 2022.
While the show’s star — I’m referring to Baby Yoda, obviously, not Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin — off to train in the ways of the Jedi with his new master Luke Skywalker, there will be a hole in the series, but there are still plenty of stories left to tell. Besides Grogu leaving with Luke, there’s still the issue of what happens to the Darksaber now that Din technically won it in his fight with Moff Gideon, which may mean he is now the technical ruler of the planet Mandalore. Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) may have something to say about that.
The Mandalorians have a rich history, but we haven’t seen much of it explored in a live-action series or movie. It will be fascinating would be fascinating to see how Din Djarin handles his new responsibilities, and to get a better look at Mandalorian culture..
And if Rangers of the New Republic is indeed scrapped, future seasons of The Mandalorian will be perfect vehicles for stories about how the New Republic trying to snuff out the last remnants of the Empire and establish a more inclusive, peaceful galaxy.
And yes, it’d be great to see Luke and Grogu again. I don’t think Disney will let us down there.
