Thor: Love and Thunder may be Chris Hemsworth’s “last” Marvel movie

When Thor: Love and Thunder comes out next month, Chris Hemsworth will be the Marvel star with the most solo movies under his belt: four and counting. Iron Man had three movies to himself, Captain American had three movies, but Thor is getting four.

But that might it. Hemsworth stopped by Wired to do one of their auto-complete interviews. One of the questions was, “What is Chris Hemsworth’s last Marvel movie?” His answer?

"The last one I just shot was ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’ And it may be my last, I don’t know."

I’m not entirely sure if that’s what the question was asking, but point taken.

Thor: Love and Thunder is “a wacky, wild, romantic comedy set in space”

All good things must eventually come to an end, and Hemsworth has certainly had a good thing with Thor. The first two movies were mostly grim affairs while Thor: Ragnarok took an unexpected turn into cosmic comedy. Director Taika Waititi returns for Love and Thunder, which looks to have the same anarchic spirit.

“It was a wild and fun and wacky experience, as all Taika Waititi movies are,” Hemsworth said of Love and Thunder, per Insider. “I played that character for 10, 11 years now and each time it’s been new and exciting, and this was no exception,” he added. “It felt very fresh and it felt like we were trying something we hadn’t tried before. It was, in Taika’s words, a wacky, wild, romantic comedy set in space.”

Thor: Love and Thunder releases in theaters on July 8. Then we’ll see if it’s Thor’s last ride or not.
