Who remembers the Batman nipple suit? I’m talking about the one that George Clooney wore in 1997’s Batman & Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher. It was quite the topic of conversation back then because the Batsuit literally had “Bat-nipples,” and it remains just as funny all these years later.

Well, it turns out the Batman nipple suit is now being sold off as part of Heritage Auctions’ Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction. It is currently up for bidding at $40,000, but don’t expect that number to stay there. Die-hard fans will flock to the auction site to get their hands on this rare item.

Variety spotted the listing online, and it’s been making the rounds ever since. Schumacher always defended the decision to make the suit this way, but it hasn’t stopped people from hating on it anyway — even Batman and Batman Returns director Tim Burton. Specifically, he was mad that the studio let him go after Batman Returns, which was apparently too strange a movie for their liking, only to do this. “You complain about me, I’m too weird, I’m too dark, and then you put nipples on the costume?” he told Empire. “Go f*** yourself.” I guess he won’t be placing a bid on the suit.

You can now place your bid for the 1997 Batman nipple suit

Despite Burton’s opinions about the Batman nipple suit, executive VP of Heritage Auctions Joe Maddalena said that he feels this specific Batsuit is “easily the most famous—and infamous—Batman costume ever designed.”

Okay, I don’t think this is the greatest suit, and I don’t think it deserves so much hate, but the most famous Batsuit ever? That might be a stretch, folks! “Memorable” perhaps is a better word to use here.

Check out the auction by clicking this link, and place your bid if you so desire (or dare). The Joker suit Jack Nicholson wore in Burton’s 1989 Batman movie is also up for auction. Oh, the costume parties you could throw…

Next. Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) returning for Marvel’s Echo series. dark
