Suzie: The theme from The NeverEnding Story

You knew this one was coming, right? Dustin and his long-distance girlfriend Suzie sung the theme from the movie The NeverEnding Story in a climactic moment from season 3. More to the point, she insisted they sing the theme song, even though time was of the essence. She obviously loves this tune. Vecna is no match for Falkor.

Nancy Wheeler: “Love Is A Battlefield” by Pat Benatar

Like Steve, we have to guess at Nancy’s musical taste here. On the surface, Nancy seems prim and proper; she’s a list-maker, an organizer, and someone who follows through on their plans. She’s got her head screwed on right, which would make me think she’s into pretty light pop.

But there’s also a steely side to Nancy; we see it whenever she has to face down creatures from the Upside Down. She never bats an eye; she’s always ready to grab a gun and start shooting. When she has to, she saws off her own shotguns. Yes, she’s a responsible young lady, but she’s also a badass.

I think “Love Is A Battlefield” bridges that gap. It’s poppy enough that it’s not going to offend anymore, but there’s a grit beneath it that suits Nancy well, in her more drastic moments.

Erica Sinclair: “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston

Okay, hear me out. You know how I said that Nancy has a soft exterior that hides a hard edge? Erica’s kind of the opposite: she’s brash, bold and unstoppable, but on the inside, she’s a good-hearted kid who loves her family, Dungeons & Dragons, and America. I’m not sure what kind of music she likes, but I think it’d be funny if she secretly likes saccharine hits like Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” but tries to hide it.

Mike: “Every Breath You Take” by The Police

Okay, we’re back to an easy one: Mike loves Eleven, and has since he laid eyes on her in the series premiere; he said so himself in season 4. One of their most romantic scenes came in the season 2 finale, when Eleven showed up at the Snow Ball and they danced to “Every Breath You Take” by The Police.

Plug this one into Mike’s brain, and he’ll be miles away before Vecna can even think to attack.
