In the weeks following the news that HBO is developing a Game of Thrones sequel about Jon Snow, some of the former cast members have talked about whether they’d reprise their roles. Gwendoline Christie would be “happy” to return as Brienne, while Emilia Clarke thinks she’s “done” playing Daenerys Targaryen.

The latest star to weigh in on a potential return is John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), who would be interested in reading any scripts sent his way. When we left Samwell Tarly in season 8, he was Grand Maester to King Bran, becoming one of the only characters to survive from season 1 all the way through to the end of the series.

Given that he played Sam for almost a decade, Bradley feels emotionally attached to character, and wouldn’t be against playing him again at some point. “I tend to think about it,” he told Digital Spy. “I think we all left Game of Thrones thinking that we’d played these characters for so long and they had such a life to them, we’d like to sort of check in with them and see how they’re getting on.”

"We played those parts for so long that as soon as we’d finished, we felt sort of free of them in a way. Because it’s a lot of story to carry around and a lot of emotional life to carry around with you."

John Bradley hasn’t talked to anyone about appearing in the Jon Snow show

Bradley has a new movie coming out: The Railway Children Return, which releases July 15. “I think we’re all enjoying having a bit of a break from that and exploring new areas,” he said.

With that said, if an opportunity arises for him to return as Samwell Tarly, it’d be hard to say no. “But in the future, who knows? I haven’t spoken to anybody about the potential Jon Snow prequel, but if somebody wants to send a script my way I’d be interested to read it.” Get this man a script!

The Jon Snow show is still very early in development. Watch this space. In the meantime, HBO’s first Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, arrives on August 21!

Next. House of the Dragon is a “dark…complex…very human” story. dark
