Halloween Ends trailer promises nostalgia and probably more disappointment
As we inch closer to fall, horror lovers are getting ready for exciting TV and movie releases just in time for the spooky season. Of course, all eyes have been on the next installment in David Gordon Green’s Halloween series, which will mark the final film in the franchise. With early screenings and leaks coming out, Blumhouse decided to drop the trailer for Halloween Ends on Tuesday night. And let’s just say the response has been mixed.
As a huge fan of the franchise, I’ll definitely be watching Halloween Ends, but I can’t deny that I’m pretty worried. Though the first film in this new series, Halloween, was a huge win in my opinion, Halloween Kills was just bad. And this trailer for Halloween Ends doesn’t give me much hope. (If you can even call it a trailer; it’s less than a minute and a half.)
The trailer certainly aims to get fans nostalgic, as it opens with call-backs from the original Halloween, along with Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. From there, it’s all Laurie Strode vs. Michael Myers, with some footage from the original film mixed in. A lot of action, yes, but is there even a plot? It’s almost impossible to break down this trailer. Check it out below and see what you think.
Halloween Ends trailer
As promised by director David Gordon Green, Halloween Ends will take place four years after the events of Halloween Kills, which is certainly a choice. According to the official synopsis, the town’s been free of Michael ever since, but Laurie’s suspicions begin to arise after a young man is accused of killing a child he was babysitting.
John Carpenter, who directed and co-wrote the original Halloween, recently called the upcoming film “a departure from the others.” Like many fans of the franchise, I’m not really sure what to make of that. There’s been theories going around since the trailer dropped that there might be a Michael Myers copycat, which could be executed well, but also… could not. I will admit I’m still jaded from Halloween Kills, but this trailer just does not get me excited for what’s to come!
Halloween Ends will be the final showdown between Michael and Laurie, but will it even be satisfying? I’m not convinced, though I hope I’m proven wrong! Catch the movie in theaters starting October 14, 2022.
