She-Hulk: August 17 (Disney+)

Ms. Marvel wrapped up early in July. But if you thought we were going to get a chance to breathe before the next Marvel series comes along, you haven’t been paying attention; the new one, She-Hulk, is coming to Disney+ this month.

She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, an attorney who ends up getting super-strength and green skin after she gets a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner…or at least that’s how it happens in the comics. We do know that Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) appears in the series, so some version of this will probably go down.

As for the show itself, Disney is going for light comedy with this one, as you can tell from the trailer. After the intensity of Moon Knight and the coming-of-age story from Ms. Marvel, Marvel Studios is trying to diversity its TV offerings.

House of the Dragon: August 21 (HBO and HBO Max)

Game of Thrones ended in 2019, and HBO has been developing a follow-up ever since. House of the Dragon is set some 200 years before the original show and tells the story of the Dance of the Dragons, a brutal civil war fought between rival factions of the Targaryen dynasty. The show has everything you’d expect from a Game of Thrones prequel, including sumptuous visuals, political backstabbing, and shocking twists. There are also a lot more dragons.

This is probably the biggest new release of the month, which is saying something. Will people embrace this show, or were too many soured on the ending to the original series? We’ll find out before long.
