Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling

Outlander and The Hobbit star Graham McTavish confirmed that he would be on the Game of Thrones prequel show a while back, and we guessed that he might be playing Ser Harrold Westerling, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under King Viserys. Later it was confirmed. It’s nice to be right.

Ser Harrold is considered fair, wise and chivalrous, a decent man in a story that doesn’t have many of them. He’s been around for a while, too, having also served on the Kingsguard of Viserys’ grandfather King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.

As for Graham McTavish, you take one look at him and you just want to slap him in a suit of armor and put him on a horse. He looks perfect for the role of the veteran knight trying to do his duty in a world where it’s increasingly unclear where his loyalties are supposed to lie.
