The highly-anticipated spinoff to Game of Thrones is almost here. House of the Dragon is a prequel to the original show, taking place hundreds of years prior when the Targaryen family ruled Westeros. Though we won’t get to see characters we fell in love with on our screens like Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), don’t fret. There’s a whole new crowd to get to know.

And with new characters come new battles, betrayals, romances, and more. We cannot wait to start watching! Just like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon will air on HBO every Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST, starting August 21. You can also stream new episodes on HBO Max as they start on TV. If you find yourself outside of the United States, you might be wondering: can I still watch the spinoff? Let’s break it down.
