King Tyrion Lannister and the real winners of Game Of Thrones
Tyrion Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Hand of the King
Few Game of Thrones characters have experienced as many wild swings of fortune as Tyrion Lannister. We first met him as the unwanted Lannister son, a little person his father hoped was a bastard, an intelligent noble castoff who’d decided to whittle away his privileged life aimlessly in bars and brothels.
Led in chains to the Great Council of 305 AC, Tyrion’s fortunes reversed monumentally once again. Rather than being executed for supporting Daenerys Targaryen, he finds himself promoted to the post of Hand to the King to Bran the Broken, the candidate Tyrion himself suggested.
Along with being given his birthright as the Lord of Casterly Rock, Tyrion is in a unique position of power. King Bran is the new Three-Eyed Raven, and he’ll be greatly detached from everyday operations in King’s Landing. With Bran effectively away from the Iron Throne — or whatever melty blob is left of it — Tyrion will be the man effectively in charge of the realm.
Tyrion runs the small council. Bran has no wife or progeny, and his surviving Stark family members are scattered across Westeros and beyond. This means that Tyrion, with the exception of the rare times Bran is both personally and consciously present, will in fact serve a lifetime as the Lord of the Six Kingdoms in all but name.
