How long is House of the Dragon episode 2? (“The Rogue Prince”)

I still can’t believe we made it to the premiere of House of the Dragon, and now we’re already onto Episode 2. The Game of Thrones prequel series, set a couple hundred years before the events to the original, introduces us to the Targaryen family while King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) sits on the Iron Throne. The pressure’s on for him to choose an heir, and after he loses his wife and only son in childbirth, his decision becomes all the more complicated.

His daughter, Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock), very clearly doesn’t want to conform to gender norms and responsibilities like other women, but did she ever dream of ruling the Seven Kingdoms? We know her uncle, Prince Daemon (Matt Smith), certainly has. And now that Viserys has named his heir, things are only going to get messier. We can’t wait to watch Episode 2!

Ahead of the release of House of the Dragon episode 2, “The Rogue Prince,” let’s get into some of the logistics, namely how long the episode will run.

House of the Dragon Episode 2 runtime

Just like Game of Thrones, the episodes of House of the Dragon are expected to run for about an hour each. The premiere, “The Heirs of the Dragon,” went a little over at one hour and six minutes, and Episode 2 will be a bit shorter. You can expect the second episode to run for 54 minutes, according to HBO’s schedule.

Episode 2 will air on HBO at 9:00 p.m. EST, and an encore showing will follow. F9: The Fast Saga is scheduled to play after that at 11:00 p.m. EST if you’re in the mood for more action. And if you’re streaming House of the Dragon on HBO Max, Hulu, or another service, you can expect Episode 2 to be released at 9:00 p.m. EST there as well.
