The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The Lord of the Rings prequel series The Rings of Power hits Amazon Prime Video this week, and you don’t want to miss what’s bound to be an epic season.

The Rings of Power features an ensemble cast lead by Morfydd Clark (Saint Maud) as Galadriel, Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland) as Bronwyn, and Robert Aramayo (young Ned Stark from Game of Thrones) as Elrond. Set thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings during the Second Age of Middle-earth, we’ll get to see the rise of iconic villain Sauron and the creation of the Great Rings.

There’s been some doubt over whether or not Amazon Prime Video could deliver a series that satisfies both fans of the books by J.R.R. Tolkien and casual fans of the previous adaptations, but the trailers have looked great — at least visually — and we’re excited to dive in.

When do new episodes of The Rings of Power come out?

Because The Rings of Power will be released on Prime Video, there’s probably some confusion about what day and time new episodes will drop. To make things even more complicated, the first two episodes will follow a different release schedule from the rest of the season. Here’s how it will all play out:

  • The Rings of Power episode 1: Thursday, September 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 2: Thursday, September 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 3: Friday, September 9 at 12:00 a.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 4: Friday, September 16 at 12:00 a.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 5: Friday, September 23 at 12:00 a.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 6: Friday, September 30 at 12:00 a.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 7: Friday, October 7 at 12:00 a.m. ET
  • The Rings of Power episode 8: Friday, October 14 at 12:00 a.m. ET

The first two episodes of The Rings of Power will be released at once this week, and the following episodes will release weekly every Friday.
