Lee Jung-jae played the lead character in the phenomenally popular Squid Game. And now he’ll play the lead character in the Star Wars show The Acolyte!
Lee Jung-jae played lead character Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game, which came out of nowhere last year to become the popular show in Netflix’s history. How do you follow that up? Well, according to Deadline, Lee Jung-jae has scored one of the lead roles in The Acolyte, an upcoming Star Wars TV show on Disney+. Not bad.
We still only have slight details about The Acolyte. In Star Wars mythology, an acolyte is usually someone learning about the Dark Side of the Force under a Sith Lord. We also know that the show is set hundreds of years before the original Star Wars, during the waning days of the High Republic. So put that together and it’s probably about a Sith student who’s long dead now.
We also know that Amandla Stenberg will play the other lead character. Jodie Turner-Smith is also part of the cast, and Leslye Headland is the showrunner.
We don’t have a release date for The Acolyte as of yet. Nor do we know when the second season of Squid Game is coming out, although we know it’s in the works. Lee Jung-jae is going to be a very busy guy.
