Does Daemon Targaryen marry Laena Velaryon in House of the Dragon?
The episodes keep getting more and more intense each week on House of the Dragon, and I have a feeling that won’t be slowing down. We’ve officially made it to the halfway mark in the season, and next time we see Rhaenyra, Alicent, and the rest of the characters, they’ll be much older — and many of them will be played by different actors. There’s a 10-year time jump between the fifth and sixth episodes, and I’m sure a lot will be very different in Westeros starting next week.
As evidenced in the House of the Dragon Episode 6 trailer, not only will Alicent and King Viserys’ children Aegon and Helaena be older, but we’ll also get to meet new members of the family. These include Alicent and Viserys’ kids Aemond and Daeron, as well as Rhaenyra and Laenor’s children Lucerys, Jacaerys, and Joffrey. The trailer heavily suggests Rhaenyra’s three sons might not actually be Laenor’s, however, so that’ll be juicy to see play out.
There’s a lot to process in the Episode 6 trailer, and people are also wondering what’s next for Daemon. He’s barely in the preview, but we do see him with Laena Velaryon, who will be played by actress Nanna Blondell moving forward. What’s going on with them? Do they get together in House of the Dragon?

Do Daemon and Laena get together in House of the Dragon?
There’s certainly some flirtation between Daemon and Laena at Rhaenyra and Laenor’s wedding in Episode 5, and that turns into a romance. Remember, Daemon’s first wife Rhea Royce is now dead after he beat her to death with a rock in the most recent episode, so he’s free to marry again. In Fire & Blood, Daemon does wed Laena next. Despite his plan to take over Runestone now that Rhea is gone, he’s sent away and then sets his sights on Laena.
Daemon and Laena go on to have two children, Baela and Rhaena, who they later arrange to marry two of Rhaenyra and Laenor’s sons. Sadly, Laena dies in childbirth along with her and Daemon’s third child, a baby boy. With Laena out of the picture, that leaves an opportunity for Daemon to pursue Rhaenyra’s hand in marriage again. But Rhaenyra is still married to Laenor, so what will Daemon do? You’ll just have to wait to find out!
I’m sad we only got one episode of actress Savannah Steyn playing a teenage Laena, but I’m so excited to see how her and Daemon’s relationship plays out as the season continues. If Episode 5 proves anything, it’s that Daemon will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. And yes, that includes murder.
