She-Hulk review, Episode 6: “Just Jen”

She-Hulk is moving right along with its sixth episode. While I’m enjoying the goofy series, I’m bummed that we haven’t seen Daredevil yet. After that epic tease at the end of last week’s episode, why did he have to sit this one out? I am such a big Daredevil fan and have been waiting for years to see him officially appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I have feelings about this.

I know we’re almost there, so I will practice patience, but only begrudgingly. And with that, let’s get into the major moments from this week’s episode of She-Hulk!

Beware SPOILERS ahead!

She-Hulk goes to a wedding

The episode, appropriately titled “Just Jen,” is all about Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany). Instead of dealing with the law, Jen jets off to be a bridesmaid at the wedding of a high school friend. However, this friend, Lulu (Patti Harrison), isn’t thrilled to see Jen show up in her She-Hulk form.

It’s the one time Jen wants to be She-Hulk, but she has to quickly shift back to herself because she is pulling the attention away from Lulu. It’s a good opportunity to try on the dresses that Luke (Griffin Matthews) made for her. She won’t have to change out of these when she transforms.

It’s a silly tangent, but I loved seeing Jen battling over which persona she wanted to use. There’s a conflict between herself and her superhero identity, and this week we see her grow even more comfortable with the latter.

Enter Titania

Unexpectedly, Titania (Jameela Jamil) shows up at the wedding as one of the groomsman’s dates. Jen is convinced that she is only there to mess with her. That might seem egotistical, but she’s not wrong. Titania is hell-bent on seeking revenge after the trial didn’t go in her favor last week.

In the midst of the Titania drama, the good-looking Josh (Trevor Salter) tries flirting with Jen. He does seem interested in her, and not just because she’s She-Hulk. Although he does look impressed when she goes full superhero on Titania, who starts a fight. Jen comes out on top and kicks her butt. Talk about a badass!

Elsewhere on She-Hulk

With Jen away, Nikki (Ginger Gonzaga) helps Mallory (Renée Elise Goldsberry) with an interesting divorce case. Their client, Mr. Immortal (David Pasquesi), had been married multiple times, and instead of just getting divorced after he inevitably loses interests, he stages his own death. Because he is literally immortal, he’s able to continue his love life with his former partner none the wiser.

This subplot is quite funny, and I loved seeing Mallory and Nikki team up. And even better, Nikki did a marvelous job dealing with the pissed-off spouses!

At the end of this week’s episode, one of the spouses points Nikki and Mallory to a website for “hateful man babies.” They check it out and find many hateful, angry comments about She-Hulk. Mallory doesn’t want to tell Jen, but Nikki blabs anyway.

She-Hulk Season 1, Episode 6 ending explained

As the episode ends, we learn that Jen is being watched by whoever tried to steal her blood a few episodes ago. Who are these people? What is the larger game here? And when are we going to see Daredevil?

I have so many questions. If I have any qualms about She-Hulk, it’s that there are too many loose ends. Where exactly is this all going, and how do characters like Titania and Daredevil fit in?

Tune in next week to find out (hopefully)!
