9 periods in Westeros history perfect for another Game of Thrones spinoff

Tales of Dunk and Egg
This is a fan favorite series of novellas from George R.R. Martin that follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a peasant raised to knighthood, and his squire Egg, who is actually a Targaryen prince so far down in the line of succession he’s allowed to wander around the Seven Kingdoms with Dunk. It’s set around 90 years before Game of Thrones.
While it might not have the same epic feel as other options on this list, Tales of Dunk and Egg is still a delightful read with plenty of action, adventure, and intrigue. It would make for an excellent television show and could easily be adapted into a multi-season format. Plus, there’s source material for it. Martin plans to write even more novellas about these characters, although we know his track record where that’s concerned.
With its focus on two main characters, it would also be relatively cheap to produce compared to some of the other options on this list. Getting the casting right would be crucial, and it would be essential to find actors who could convincingly portray the characters as they grow and develop throughout the series.
HBO is developing a Dunk and Egg show, and it looks like they’re further along with this one than with a lot of the other projects. The lightness of Dunk and Egg could be an effective tonic to the darkness of House of the Dragon.
