A Game of Thrones sequel series

This is the one that everyone wants. A sequel series set after the events of Game of Thrones would be hugely ambitious and require a considerable budget. It would also be a risk, as the show would have to live up to the expectations of fans who have been waiting for years to discover what happens next.

Now that The Walking Dead has ended, AMC has commissioned several sequel series which follow popular individual characters. HBO seems to be thinking along similar lines, with shows for Jon Snow and Arya Stark suggested. They’re actually developing one about Jon, based on an idea from actor Kit Harington.

We could see Jon Snow ruling in the North, the political maneuverings of Tyrion Lannister and the Small Council, or Arya Stark sailing the seas. There are endless possibilities for a Game of Thrones sequel series, and it would be essential viewing for any fan of the franchise. Whether the actors would agree to return is another matter, as many of them have moved on to other projects.

There are many potential spin-offs for Game of Thrones, but which ones are most likely to happen? The network is known to be considering several options and it seems likely that one or more of them will be greenlit in the near future. At the moment, we’d be that Dunk and Egg is the one with the best chances of moving forward, since there’s source material to work off. That said, news of the Jon Snow show inspired lots of excitement online. There are many stories that could be told, and it will be interesting to see which ones HBO decides to pursue.
