She-Hulk review, Episode 8: “Ribbit and Rip It”

She-Hulk fans, we’ve waited, agonized, and patiently stood by as every episode went by. But today, I am happy to report the cameo we have all been waiting for finally happened. DAREDEVIL IS BACK IN THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE!

We saw Matt Murdock during Spider-Man: No Way Home, but this week’s episode of She-Hulk gave us Daredevil. I cried tears of joy the minute Murdock appeared on the screen, and those tears continued to flow when he donned the Daredevil suit. I honestly couldn’t be happier with how the episode went.

There is plenty to discuss, so without further ado, let’s get right into it!

She-Hulk features the return of Daredevil

Jennifer (Tatiana Maslany) is forced to sue superhero tailor Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews), the same guy who’s been designing her clothes. The client, Eugune Patilio (Brandon Stanley), has a longstanding history with the firm. His father is loaded, so Jennifer has no choice but to help out.

Eugene, who goes by the superhero name Leap Frog, wore a suit made by Luke. It caught on fire, and Eugene wants compensatory damages. On the day of the hearing, Like is sitting alone in court, which I automatically knew meant that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was going to represent him. And boy, I have never been happier to be right. Matt walks into the courtroom, cane in hand, and my heart filled up with joy.

Matt reveals that Eugene used jet fuel for his suit, which is exactly what Luke told him not to do. The case is moot at that point, and the victory goes to Luke, who is livid towards Jennifer for ever doubting him.

Jennifer ends her night at the bar, where she and Matt seemingly hit it off (yes, here for this!). But the night is cut short when Matt and Jen get calls and have to leave ASAP.

She-Hulk and Daredevil: the duo we didn’t know we needed

While Matt disappears off to, who knows? Jen answers the call of the guy she went on a date with who had a She-Hulk fetish. I’m talking about Todd Phelps (Jon Bass); that guy was so cringe!

She meets him at a restaurant only to learn that he thinks they’re on a date and a business meeting. While he can’t stop himself from being creepy, he’s also hoping to get Jen’s help in trying to keep a Wakandan spear that he claims he bought, but it’d be more accurate to say he stole it.

Jen isn’t eager to help him and rushes out of the restaurant, leaving him to his own ridiculous devices. Shortly after, she gets a call from Eugene claiming someone is chasing after him. As it turns out, Daredevil is pursuing him. He and She-Hulk fight it out, but they stop when Jen learns that it’s actually Matt under that mask. I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but the Daredevil theme music played for a couple of seconds when he revealed who he was. Oh, that made my heart soar!

Matt reveals he was pursuing Eugene because he’s kidnapped Luke and is forcing him to make a new suit. Daredevil and She-Hulk team up to take down Eugene, which is absolutely glorious. I couldn’t be happier with all the fight sequences and the teamwork.

After a successful night of superhero work, Jen and Matt head back to her place for some extracurricular fun; wink, wink. Don’t you just love a happy ending? Daredevil’s walk of shame the next morning has to be one of the episode’s best moments! It was hilarious.

She-Hulk Season 1, Episode 8 ending explained

After a fun night, Jen to get ready for the gala, which Nikki (Ginger Gonzaga) shows up to help her out with. Jen is up for the Female Lawyer of the Year award alongside many other nominees.

When it’s her turn to make a speech, the Intelligencia hackers take over and start showing the hacked videos from her phone that Josh (Trevor Salter) copied. It includes her online dating history and a video of her and Josh hooking up. It’s awful and angers Jen to the point that she destroys everything around her.

We’ve never seen She-Hulk this angry, but can we blame her? This is a ridiculous invasion of privacy and completely unfair. Why shouldn’t she go nuts?!

Ugh, we better find out who is behind this hacking mess in next week’s season finale!
