It’s going to be hard to beat last week’s episode of House of the Dragon, “Driftmark.” Episode 7 is probably my favorite of the season so far, with the incredible performances by the cast, the familial drama that escalated faster than I’d imagined, the highly anticipated wedding, and of course, the twist at the very end.
As we move into the next episode, “The Lord of the Tides,” the lines have been drawn and the families have chosen sides. Another time jump might only mean more tension and resentment from certain characters. After the critical dagger scene between Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) happened, I can’t wait to see what’ll unfold next.

If you’re planning out your watch party for Sunday, check out some of the episode details below, including the run time.
House of the Dragon Episode 8 run time
Last week’s episode of House of the Dragon was a bit of a shorter one, coming in under the one-hour mark. But don’t worry, we’re back to over an hour with Episode 8. “The Lord of the Tides” will run for one hour and 8 minutes. If you’ll be watching the episode live, you can tune in this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO or HBO Max.
UPDATE 10/9/2022: The episode length has been updated on HBO’s schedule as one hour and 11 minutes, however on HBO Max it’s currently listed as one hour and seven minutes. Because of this discrepancy, expect it to run for about an hour and some change.
According to HBO’s schedule, the network will play an encore showing at 10:11 p.m. ET if you’re running a little late and miss it the first time around. And of course, if you’re streaming via HBO Max, the episode will be available for you to watch (and rewatch) whenever you want after it premieres.
