The drama between the rival branches of the Targaryen families continues tonight when House of the Dragon Episode 8, “The Lord of the Tides” premieres on HBO. After another time jump, the characters are reunited once again as Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon (Matt Smith) return to King’s Landing. But this time, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) sits on the Iron Throne in place of King Viserys (Paddy Considine), who’s likely too sick to do so. I kind of love Alicent (Olivia Cooke) at this point, but I do not trust her, and I definitely do not trust Otto. So this should be interesting.

In the trailer for tonight’s new episode, we hear that Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) has been wounded fighting in the Stepstones, and who should take his place as the Lord of the Tides should he die comes into question. Of course, we know that Corlys wanted Rhaenyra and Laenor’s (John MacMillan) son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) to be his heir, but Corlys’ brother Vaemond (Wil Johnson) has other ideas.
