The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is not coming in November 2022

From the isle of Númenor to the fiery pits of Mordor, season 1 of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brought us back to Middle-earth in all its breathtaking beauty. While the first season of the show received some mixed reviews, it also gained an attentive audience. And that’s fortunate, because Amazon has gone all in on the series; season 2 is already in production, and by all accounts it seems like the studio is planning to go through with a full five-season arc.
But when exactly will we get to watch The Rings of Power season 2? Let’s go over what we know.
As of this writing, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power does not have a set release date…however, we have enough information to at least make a reasonable guess at its release window.
What is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 release date?
Writing on The Rings of Power season 2 was finished even before season 1 aired, and the show quietly went into production sometime in October.
Amazon’s other big fantasy show, The Wheel of Time, is expected to return for its second season in 2023. The Rings of Power just started filming and will likely to take quite a bit of time to finish due to its ambitious scope and visual effects. It seems very likely that we won’t see season 2 until sometime in 2024.
Two years between seasons for these enormous fantasy and science-fiction shows is pretty much becoming the norm. House of the Dragon is similarly expected to air its second season during 2024, and the time gap between seasons of The Witcher and The Wheel of Time appear to be standardizing at around a year and a half to two years. For better or worse, such are the times.
